How do I survive a failed project? I don't understand what is not right with abandoning the project? |

How can I prepare for getting hit by a bus? in other words you are asking about ways to document your knowledge? |

How can I work with a client who gives ambiguous directions but refuses to clarify--and is just more adamant that I follow his instructions? "I got a more forceful and angry email" - do you communicate only by email and never spoken (e.g. over Skype)? |

How to deal with a colleague who doesn't want to collaborate? "N is much more valuable person" - what are his specific qualities which make him valueable to the management? |

How do I motivate my colleagues? @ GreenMatt - "Also, will you give up that raise when the project is over and you don't have to work with the undesirable person anymore?" - yes, I would give it up. |

How do I motivate my colleagues? @ GreenMatt - you have your points but what do they have to do with the original question? A person is asking how to be productive in a team with somebody else, not how to carry himself the company's woes. If the company finds it so hard to create the needed productive environment then they are just incapable and it is their problem. There is no reason why it should become the employee's problem (as it currently is). If he begins to fix (motivate) his co-worker, he would be actually doing the job of management and that is neither his competence nor does he get paid for that. |

How do I motivate my colleagues? @GreenMatt - what I had in mind by "should come at a price" is that one should value his professionalism and ask for a higher price when everybody around does not even seem to care. You create more value, you ask for more money in return. |

How do I motivate my colleagues? @GreenMatt - you are right with one small amendment - "ask for a raise if you don't get to choose someone better than the one you currently have to work with" If I were in a perfectly selected team I wouldn't ask for a raise. The great team by itself would be an exceptional benefit. But if they were making me work with somebody mediocre, I would definitely seek a compensation for my extra efforts being put into an environment of low effort. |

LinkedIn invitations from people I don't know I usually respond to such invitations with a "How could be of help to each other?" line. If I receive no response or a vague one, I decline the invitation. |

How can I manage technical workers when I have no experience in their position? I admit that. There should be a single party to have the final say. In most cases even if that's not the best decision, it's better to have a bad decision rather than waste time on endless arguments. But a project manager can do a lot to design decision-making processes which help reach correct decisions most of the time, without unnecessary disagreements. In that case he would rarely have to assume the role of an arbiter. |

What would be a good response to “Do you like spending special time with coworkers”? The author added those details additionally, after I posted my answer. |
