Nov 3, 2017 at 22:42 comment added ps2goat Depending on the quality of the restaurant and the available ingredients, do as others have said and ask for a specially prepared meal. I've seen others order a pile of steamed broccoli with fried eggs from a Chinese restaurant. Another option could be to ask the restaurant if you can bring in your own meal that fits your dietary needs, if they are unable to accommodate you with a custom meal.

Nov 2, 2017 at 20:46 comment added GreenMatt It may be considered odd, but is that unprofessional? While it may be useful to "put some effort in it", how is that answering the question?
Nov 2, 2017 at 18:06 comment added Don Branson Good answer. I try to eat heart-healthy due to my coronary issues, and that means there aren't any restaurants that serve what I need (this is the US). So, I'm always asking for mods to avoid saturated fats and salt. Some restaurants actually don't have any options, but most have something.
