Make sure the non-compete is acceptable to you. I'm also worried that they may feel like they only need you for a few months and have no intention of ever keeping you past the probationary period and that's why they were so willing to increase your post-probation salary.

Apr 17, 2022 at 7:07 | comment | added | Job_September_2020 | If the new company pays you the salary X for 6 months, and for some reason, they decide not to keep you after that, then you would end up getting the exact same salary as you do now at your current company for the next 6 months, and then you will have to look for a new job. You should probably take into account the "risk vs reward" factor in this case.
Apr 17, 2022 at 5:31 | comment | added | citronas | A non-compete agreement is not a trivial thing! This can hurt you a lot, depending on the exact wording. Whenever I encountered a non-compete, I would say "12 months of non-compete? Are you going to pay me an additional 12 months after the employment contract ended"?

Apr 17, 2022 at 4:52 | comment | added | pc_fuel | @GregoryCurrie I dont think anything, except that they may withdraw the offer.
Apr 17, 2022 at 4:27 | comment | added | Gregory Currie | "Should I consider asking the HR to increase the salary during my probation, or just decline the offer altogether?" I mean, with respect to this, what have you got to lose by asking?
Apr 17, 2022 at 4:21 | comment | added | pc_fuel | @GregoryCurrie I wont be able to pay my bills if I get the same amount as in the probation period.
