I've been advising on workplace communication issues for almost 20 years. How we communicate fascinates me. It’s central to everything we do at work, but we get it wrong much of the time – often with far-reaching consequences. Much of the advice pushed by training in this area is based on a mixture of pseudoscience, ’see one, teach one' and wishful thinking. I believe the world’s knowledge workers deserve and need better. Good or bad communication doesn’t just affect an organisation’s culture; it is its culture.
