If you don't have a contract, and they wanted a notice period, then they could have given you a contract, but they didn't. They decided they'd prefer to save 2 weeks pay in lieu of notice in the event they decide to fire you, rather than have 2 weeks notice you're leaving. It's not the employee's job to second-guess that HR decision by giving notice when not required to do so ;-) | |
