Aug 6, 2013 at 18:44 comment added NRGdallas @Ramhound I am sorry, but I am afraid your "hello word" also has a bug :) (not nit-picking, but I just couldn't resist) - bugs are extremely common, and no amount of proofing in 2 days can ever eliminate every bug
Aug 5, 2013 at 14:33 comment added user10125 @JoeStrazzere The real scenario was that: It was a BPO software and I was hired to add 2-3 features and fix 5-6 small bugs. But in reality I ended up with about 4-5 features and 15-20 minor bug fixes. There was a great communication problem between me and client. Client was unable to convey the information to me. That's why I missed the deadline.
Aug 5, 2013 at 14:28 comment added user10125 @JoeStrazzere You don't know the type of work. It was custom BPO software and I am the third or maybe fourth developer hired to work on. It was very buggy. And I have to fix many bugs which were not in the original contracts.
Aug 5, 2013 at 14:28 comment added Donald @JoeStrazzere - There is not a single peice of software that exists today that does not have bugs ( lets not include the "hello word" ). I would agree a project with only 48 hours of work can result in stable software. Its really hard to judge what he meant by he missed a deadline to be honest I just assumed he didn't finish his work by a fixed point in time.
Aug 5, 2013 at 13:55 comment added Donald @JoeStrazzere - He said he missed a deadline. Considering bug free code is not possible if he agreed to "bug free code" as the product that was something he could never achieve.

Aug 5, 2013 at 13:41 comment added user10125 @JoeStrazzere I have started working (for money) from the last two weeks. So, lose of two days payment in first two weeks is a big shock for me. Also there was nothing the contract. It was just a word used.
Aug 5, 2013 at 13:40 comment added user10125 @Ramhound I agree I should receive less payment, but not $0.
Aug 5, 2013 at 13:39 comment added user10125 @Ramhound There is nothing oDesk is going to do about it. oDesk dispute policy strictly applies only to hourly contracts and mine was fixed one. So, contacting oDesk is just wasting time.
Aug 5, 2013 at 12:34 comment added Donald @JoeStrazzere I will give you a +1 for the fact you suggest still reporting the behavior to oDesk even though VarunAgw was late the issue with regards to bugs is easily explained by the statement "All software has bugs". While I agree the client should pay for services provided I also argue the fact the work was late should cost VarunAgw something.
Aug 5, 2013 at 0:11 comment added enderland @VarunAgw be glad you found this out on a 2-day contract vs a 2-month contract....
Aug 4, 2013 at 4:16 comment added user10125 The lesson I learned from this job: Never trust blindly any client. Be strict for upfront and milestone payments.
Aug 3, 2013 at 16:54 comment added user10125 Isn't client equally responsible for this?
Aug 3, 2013 at 16:54 comment added user10125 > it's your mistake that the terms of your contract didn't explicitly state what should happen at the end of the 2 day job if any bugs remained.
