Jul 10, 2019 at 18:18 comment added Alexander @reirab Even still, I think the demand could be communicated without such up-front assertion, which would be less socially jarring
Jul 10, 2019 at 15:32 comment added reirab @Alexander I don't disagree, but that seems to be the OP's question. I completely agree that it's a bizarre demand, especially without any further explanation, but that seems to be the demand OP wants to make.
Jul 9, 2019 at 14:26 comment added Alexander @PeterMortensen I didn't say aggressive, but it is strong. It's putting your foot down in a context in which no one would expect foot-put-downing. There's a time and a place for it, but if I just saw this out of the blue, I would just think this is just a difficult person, and skip right over them. Then again, that's probably the point.
Jul 9, 2019 at 13:25 comment added Peter Mortensen I don't find the language strong or aggressive at all, just neutral assertive. "Although aggressive and passive behavior may temporarily allow one to reach a goal, assertiveness is better in the end. I define assertiveness as: actively and appropriately communicating one’s goal."

Jul 9, 2019 at 8:18 comment added lucasgcb @Alexander well it is quite frankly a weird situation so being blunt is a way to save everyone time; granted it could use some tact like prepending "at the moment", which calls for understanding as opposed to demand.
Jul 9, 2019 at 0:34 comment added Alexander I'm not a recruiter, but I'd be really weirded out if somebody used such strong language out-of-the-blue.
