If he asks the boss pre-emptively, the boss might just say "yes do it" because everyone else already does it - even though, in truth, he doesn't care. By waiting for the boss to bring it up, we ascertain that yes, this is actually something he expects. Maybe it is a bit tone-deaf, but not too much to be a problem in my mind. Definitely though, OP needs to be the final judge on whether or not this is a good idea to him. | |
