Feb 28, 2021 at 15:29 comment added Fattie hi @user124513 - that's funny, but I think you are drastically misreading this business situation. Let me make an example - in my office at home there's a door, and I shut it when eg. making calls etc. Say I didn't shut it and sort of worked in a kind of carefree manner, never got any projects done, all my clients constantly heard noise etc. My wife would be PISSED OFF at me. She actually wants me to make money - !!!! You also don't seem to realize this is a situation with many phone lines. Of course you block different parties on different lines. It's a total non-issue
Feb 28, 2021 at 15:06 comment added user124513 @Fattie It saddens me greatly to learn that someone has you as a parent.
Feb 27, 2021 at 15:19 comment added Fattie that's just not correct my man. for example, i block my own daughter !! on business lines so that, for her convenience she doesn't waste time/confusion on calls. don't forget this is the workplace site, we're talking about issues in a business milieu here.
Feb 27, 2021 at 15:14 comment added NotThatGuy @Fattie It is not polite to either block or ignore calls from people, but it can be necessary to deal with people who aren't being very polite towards you (or for other reasons). I can only guess what might be polite and normal from some other person's points of view, but in my experience many or most people think the same as I do about this (and those who tend not to be very polite tend to complain the loudest about getting blocked).
Feb 27, 2021 at 15:09 comment added Jhonnytunes Lol the complaint part was funny actually.
Feb 27, 2021 at 14:51 comment added Todd Wilcox I’d add that changing the voicemail on the personal phone to say something like “if your call is related to [business name], please hang up and call [work phone number]”. That would help prevent potential complaints of the OP shirking their work duties from anyone who has the wrong expectations of the personal phone number.
Feb 27, 2021 at 14:40 comment added Fattie While 100% correct, this answer misses the emphasis. The entire answer to the question is "of course obviously you just block everyone". It's that simple - note that blocking them is of course the polite, normal thing to do from their point of view. It's most convenient for them. It's completely, totally normal to block people on a certain phone line.
