I could be way "dumber" than you, but if I bring $1,000 USD to the company per hour worked, and you bring nothing and get a paycheck every now and then, guess who's going to get hired?

(And it took me 4 years from graduation to get a job in my field, in a non-recession time, with excellent grades, so what do I know?)
