Walls take up space, offices instead of open plan require corridors, etc. etc.. In an open plan environment you can often cram 10-20% more people into the same amount of square meters of floorspace. Saves money. Never mind that productivity goes down (which has been shown time and again), if that happens you just punish people for not working hard enough. | |
