These things tend to be situational but I personally have tended to attempt to reflect a bully's aggression and bad behavior back at them, while trying not to retaliate directly; but alas that's not always possible. I'd say most people are better off speaking out and making a stand, or otherwise things tend to get worse for everyone. Two caveats: 1. I would try picking battles on terms where you think you can win, or at least have an impact on future negative behavior. 2. Pick those a lot more carefully if you have dependents or people reliant on you. Just my experience.

Apr 20, 2016 at 23:32 | comment | added | Myles | It's not a sure fire plan but it helps in a few different ways. Having witnesses will help corroborate your version of events so noting who witnessed it is big. The MD being able to go through your version and not find inconsistencies in your story (like they or some witness was not at work that day) will not gain confidence in your story but will prevent you from being discredited that way. Finally more often rather than completely denying events bullies will often claim the victim is exaggerating, they do this because they will be unsure if any witness corroborated any of the events.
