There is nothing specifically unprofessional about the general use of the exclamation point! But like anything there are times and places where it is not appropriate!!!"

In this exchange, removing the exclamation mark would change the statement dramatically. The exclamation mark conveys that not only is this not a good idea, it is a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad idea.
