Duplicate of How to politely turn down a task that is beyond the scope of my job description? [duplicate]
Jul 27, 2017 at 15:58 comment added Andieisme The one issue I think that would be a legitimate reason why sweeping the front area would be a poor use of your time would be your ability to answer the phones. If you are out sweeping you cannot answer and direct calls, which I assume is part of your job being a receptionist. I would point this out to your boss and ask him to find someone else who isn't required to have a phone in hand most of their day.
Jul 27, 2017 at 15:38 comment added Patricia Shanahan What clothing should one wear for a combined receptionist, cleaner, and sidewalk sweeper job? In my experience, receptionists are expected to dress fairly formally.

This seems almost exclusively about job description, so removed the other tags.

Jul 27, 2017 at 14:51 comment added David K Why did you get rid of the cleaner? Were they doing something wrong, or could the company just not afford them? If it's the latter, then nothing is likely to change.

Jul 27, 2017 at 14:44 comment added user44108 If I had the choice between sweeping the outside of the building for a few minutes every few hours or cleaning the toilets, I know which one I'd choose. Personally, I'd take some pride in helping to improve the appearance of the business.
Jul 27, 2017 at 14:35 comment added OldPadawan A location tag would be useful. In some countries, it might be ok to be asked to perfom such tasks, in others, not at all...
