Sounds like the engineer mentioned is the only one at the company with a P.Eng, meaning even if the PE is competent enough to sign off on things (unlikely), the PE is legally not allowed to. "Registered Professional Engineer" is completely orthogonal to the company's promotion ladder, and completely unrelated. It is a certification granted by an entirely-independent organization. The PE at the company is not a Registered Professional Engineer, and, BY LAW, cannot sign off on the safety reviews that MUST, BY LAW, be signed off by a Registered Professional Engineer. | |
