I am currently working as a temp to hire (I have an employer but work for someone else)-to-hire. I was given a salary range by theThe temp agency of what my salary would be when I was hired the company whose work for has told me that the salary range I dowould receive at this company is 100-115 (numbers are for illustration only).
Recently I spoke with localThe management, who of the company that would hire me recently gave me a different range that overlapped only slightly with the first range and is approximatelyof 90-105 (about 15% lower. They informally offered a wage at than the veryrange given by the temp agency), with an informal offer of 100 (the bottom of the initial range andfrom the temp agency, near the top of the more recent range. It feels like I'm being low-balled and simultaneously manipulated the company provided).
SinceIs this a negotiating tactic on the part of the new employer? Is it common to be given conflicting salary ranges when working temp-to-hire? Given that I cannothave 2 months left before I would be officially hired for two months, how should I approach this affect my negotiation to maximize the salary in the new position?
