Nov 20, 2019 at 18:00 comment added Old_Lamplighter @M.Doe Obviously I disagree completely. It's putting yourself in the place of others, teaching empathy, sincerity, and the basics of relating to people. If that isn't the very soul of actively working on oneself, I don't know what is. Again, how is "being genuinely interested in others" being manipulative or not working on oneself?

Nov 20, 2019 at 13:14 comment added Maartenw I honestly feel How to win friends and influence people, by Dale Carnegie is not a great recommendation. It is very upfront about how it's manipulating people to do your bidding more so then actually taking a good approach to solving your own personality traits that are viewed as undesirable

Nov 19, 2019 at 10:25 comment added dyesdyes I would add that almost everybody can say things they regret later. The most important point is to be aware of it and to be careful whenever you say something that's not positive to/about someone. As in this answer, note that the way you say things has a big impact, not only the content.
