Nov 21, 2019 at 1:09 comment added Neuromancer @RichardSaysReinstateMonica ah I was assuming that a director would be a higher grade its a senior grade in the UK
Nov 20, 2019 at 23:45 comment added Old_Lamplighter @Neuromancer I worked for six years in civil service. I am well aware of the rules,
Nov 20, 2019 at 22:55 comment added Neuromancer This is the US civil service "director" has a specific meaning (it also does in the UK) and there is a lot of arcane rules that dont apply in the non civil service world

Nov 20, 2019 at 20:01 comment added Old_Lamplighter @Damila that's correct. Thank you, I will edit to include.
Nov 20, 2019 at 19:56 comment added Damila It's possible that while acting director, there is no change in pay. Interim might already be at the pah grade (say the assistant director is GS-14, she stays at GS-14 while acting director, even though director is slotted as GS-15.)

Nov 20, 2019 at 18:25 comment added Old_Lamplighter @DarkCygnus Another thing that could happen is that the CTO, Oscar, could take on the role of interim director of IT. So, he would be CTO, interim director of IT. Or, they could call up Jane, who had retired, for her to come back and serve as interim IT director until a replacement could be made.
Nov 20, 2019 at 18:23 comment added Old_Lamplighter @DarkCygnus Yes, let's say that Bob couldn't take the position, but the fired IT director had an assistant director name Jim. Bob remains director of finance, Jim becomes ACTING director of IT.
Nov 20, 2019 at 18:12 comment added DarkCygnus I see, so the acting director is the one taking place of the interim director, while the latter performs the role's tasks while a replacement is found. Does that mean they always come with one another? Or can there be an acting/interim without the other?
