I would generally agree with you, the main problem is that the team does not have transversal or core skills that can be of any use, I would take years to get to the point where they can contribute. I was not given years to scale up.
@PhilipKendall the guy who hired me approached me the next day after the decision was made and told me to ask him directly for resoueces the next time, bypassing my boss.
I mean that it is a regulated sector @DanielR.Collins, we have to comply with several standards to market our products, right now this is done manually for the most part, I have shown that it is possible to do it much faster but I do not get investment because every investment available goes to manual, thus I cant grow.
I have no particular interest on having direct reports, I do not want to be the only one doing what I am doing simply because it is a risk in itself and I cant scale everything as much as I wanted due to resources.
Yes, my work is part of the contractual obligations of the company with a much bigger project and it is also required by normative for projects the company aims to take.
My concerns are that my role would change more to a technical support to the customers in the local area with little influence in the roadmap of the product.
